The Purpose of this Offering
PURPOSE OF THIS OFFERING
Here at Englewood, we believe that we can do more together! God has designed it so that His people are most effective when they work cooperatively to fulfill the mission. As such, we take the opportunity one time each year to ask our family to prayerfully consider and to sacrificially give to support those ministry initiatives that we believe God is using to change our city and the nations with the Gospel. Every dollar given toward this one offering is used to touch brokenness, bring light to dark places, and to strengthen families as we pursue our vision of seeing 5,000 homes transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. God has so faithfully and abundantly provided for His people and His church through the year! We believe that God will continue to do so in the year to come.
This special offering is directed in four primary areas:
Compassion Ministry: $20,000.
Our church is known throughout the community as a place of care and concern. Every year, our Pastoral Care Office meets physical needs among those most at risk throughout our community. Every interaction and every act of assistance is addressed in the context of the gospel. Every recipient hears of Christ’s love and concern for their wellbeing, and they see that lived out as we meet needs within and beyond our family.
Strategic Partnerships. $44,000.
In areas where gospel-faithful ministries are already at work, Englewood seeks to come alongside and provide resources for the mission. Our partners are caring for the unborn, for orphans, facilitating foster and adoptive care, translating and broadcasting the Scriptures into difficult places. Additionally, our newly formed King’s Academy, is bringing the Gospel into the classroom by providing an excellent education from a Christian worldview. As the demand for enrollment continues to grow, we strive to ensure that no child is turned away due solely to financial limitations.
Church Planting and Revitalization: $43,000.
New and renewed congregations are effective ways to impact communities with the Gospel. Here at Englewood, we desire to plant new churches, establish new ministry outposts, and to help struggling churches experience vitality again. We believe that God is raising up a generation of leaders among the family of Englewood to see this vision become reality.
Global Missions: $40,000.
As our work around the globe continues to grow, our families on the field have asked for specific assistance to allow them to carry out the mission that we have charged them to fulfill more effectively. While we give generously through our annual budget to support this mission, these requests are for specialized projects or additional targeted support for our field force.
As part of God’s plan to grow the faith of the people in His church, He calls us to sacrificial giving from time to time. This Special Offering is an opportunity for us to grow in our faith and to prepare us for what God wants to do through our church in 2023. This offering is not to replace or fund our budget; rather, it is to position us to advance the mission and to make a greater impact among our neighbors and the nations in 2023, as we continue to pursue His vision for our church of seeing 5,000 Homes transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What’s the Difference Between the Regular Offering and this Special Offering?
The regular Englewood offering is tithes and offerings that we set apart on a systematic basis and give throughout the year. Most give weekly and others give as they are paid. From time to time, there are opportunities to give in a sacrificial way. This Special Offering is one of those sacrificial occasions that stretch us to grow in our faith. The Special Offering should be over and above what you regularly give.
How Much Should I Give?
Since the goal is $147,000, this Special Offering will involve everyone. Please prayerfully considera sacrificial gift that will stretch your faith and honor God. The precise amount you give is between you and God. Many in our church can give a $5,000, $10,000 or even $25,000 gift. Others will be able to give between $100 and $500. The issue is not equal giving, but equal sacrifice. What amount can you give that will stretch your faith?
How Should I Determine What I Give?
Begin by praying, “Father, all I have has come from You. What would you like to give through me to honor Your Son as we celebrate His birth?” Then, obey His prompting. With all the gifts you give to others this Christmas, just like those wise men, you will want to present to Him your biggest and best gift of all.
How Was The Goal Determined?
After much prayer, we listed four strategic areas of focus, allowing us to increase our church’s generosity and advance the mission: allowing us to strengthen families, see homes transformed, care for the most vulnerable among us in Christ’s Name, and extend our reach with the gospel-both regionally and abroad.
When Should I Give?
The best time to give will be the first Sunday we begin, November 20. Please pray about making your best gift as soon as possible. You can continue to give until December 31, 2022. Please designate that your gift is for the special “Happy Birthday Jesus” offering by including a note in your regular offering envelope or online. There are also “Happy Birthday Jesus” envelopes located at the offering boxes for your use.
How Can I Give?
There are 5 ways you can give: You may place your envelope (include the designation “Happy Birthday Jesus”) in the offering boxes on Sundays. You may mail it to our church. You may bring it by the church office. You can also give electronically on our EBCRockyMt app (available for free in all app stores) or on our website at www.englewoodbaptist.com/give.
Can I Give In-Kind Gifts of Stocks or Bonds?
Of course! Since Englewood Baptist Church is a 501c3 organization, there can be tremendous tax benefits for you by giving in-kind gifts. For information on this type of giving, simply contact Michelle Williams at email@example.com.
Are My Gifts Tax-Deductible?
All gifts to Englewood Baptist Church, whether via the regular offering or this Special Offering, are tax-deductible for the year the gift is received. All gifts must be received by December 31 to receive charitable giving credit for 2022. Please be sure to include your name and address when you give so that a receipt can be sent to you for your tax preparations. You are not required to utilize a tax-deduction for your gift, but it is available for all gifts.
Is This Special Offering Used To Supplement Our Church Budget?
At Englewood, we believe God provides the resources for His mission through the regular and sacrificial generosity of His people. Therefore, we do not do any type of fund raising, benefit concerts, or stand in the road asking for donations. God uses your regular tithes and offerings to fund all the missions, ministries, and operations of our church budget. This special Happy Birthday Jesus offering will be used to fund mission and ministry initiatives that are not in our budget. Each of these initiatives require the availability of funds at the beginning of, rather than throughout, the year.
How Will I Know if We Reach Our Goal?
Please pray for God’s guidance as we all give sacrificially. We will give weekly updates on our progress throughout the offering period. Reaching this goal will be a celebration of what we can do together as we stretch our faith under God’s leadership.
What Happens if We Surpass Our Goal?
Any gifts exceeding our goal of $147,000 will be divided between the Mission Field Project and the 1520 Opportunity Fund. We will celebrate the progress together throughout the campaign and the results will be reported to the church the first weekend after the conclusion of the special offering!
I love to reflect, at this time of year, on the goodness and grace of God toward us. For many, the holidays offer an opportunity to enjoy connecting with family. I am reminded that family is precisely why Jesus came-that we would be adopted into the family of God. If we are not careful though, we could easily overlook such a gift in the noise of shopping, wrapping, parties, presents, parades, and pageants. The birth of Christ reminds us that God gave His most precious gift and that He did so for others. That’s the spirit behind this special offering. This is why I am excited to share with you this packet of detailed information about our annual Happy Birthday Jesus Christmas offering. This is an opportunity for each of us to do what the wise men did centuries ago in Bethlehem: to present our best gifts to Him in worship. This special Christmas offering will be received from now until the end of the year. The Lord has blessed our church family through the years. He has given us life and health and influence that extends far beyond our city. We have had the privilege to see lives changed and men and women, boys and girls, come to experience Christ’s salvation. God has also led us to understand and embrace from now until the end of the year. The Lord has blessed our church family through the years. He has given us life and health and influence that extends far beyond our city. We have had the privilege to see lives changed and men and women, boys and girls, come to experience Christ’s salvation. God has also led us to understand and embrace a vision to see 5,000 homes transformed by the Gospel! This offering is an opportunity to give generously over and above your regular tithes and offerings. By doing so, you will be sharing God’s love with the hungry, hurting, and the needy around us, helping to extend the gospel through our church family serving in South Asia, extending the gospel regionally and nationally through new and renewed churches, providing homes for foster children, and resourcing some of the most strategic gospel ministries of our generation. I pray that as you review the included information, your heart will be stirred to give as generously as Christ was generous to us. Allow God to stretch your faith as you give Him your biggest and best present, saying to Him - Happy Birthday Jesus! Jodi and I love you and are thankful for the privilege to serve with you!
