Dear Englewood family,
In 1962, during a time of great uncertain and cultural upheaval; a handful of people said, “Yes” to God. They accepted His call to be apart of His sovereign plan to change their community. They sacrificed time, talent and treasures and established Englewood Baptist Church. Their sacrifice and efforts made an eternal difference in their generation in this community. They could not have imagined how God would honor their response and faith by changing thousands of lives during these past 47 years.
Today, we are enjoying the results of that generations faith and sacrifices. Now it is our turn. We face the challenge of a cultural that is in pain and in pieces because they live without Christ. We too live in a cultural of upheaval and an American economy that is certainly unstable. We face two choices: we can either shrink back in fear and try to maintain what we have; or we can step out in faith and trust God to honor our sacrifice to Him.
We have a rich history of committed Christians who saw beyond their own comfort and let God stretch them for His own use. Let’s do it again! There are thousands of people around us who still need our Savior. I am still gripped by the opening sentence of the Purpose Driven Life - “It’s not about you.” People are more than a number. They have a soul and each soul matters to God.
Mission Possible is the name of our Stewardship Emphasis and our Building Project. It reminds me that God can and will do what humans think are impossible. The tag line is “Experiencing God Together.” Our desire, our prayer is that as you and I seek His face and obey Him, in absolute trust, there will be hundreds of brothers and sisters at Englewood Experiencing God Together.
For Jesus’ sake,
